Petr Šťovíček studied law at the Faculty of Law at Charles University in Prague. At his “alma mater”, he also completed further education programmes and earned degree of Juris Utriusque Doctor (JUDr.) and also internationally recognized academic degree of doctor of legal science (Ph.D.).

Apart from his studies at the Faculty of Law at Charles University in Prague, Petr was a visiting scholar at the Faculty of Law of the University of Bayreuth in Germany. Currently, he is an attorney-at-law. Petr focuses in his legal practice primarily on civil law (real estate and land plots) and litigation. In these legal areas, he is considered to be one of prominent experts in the Czech Republic.

Besides his legal practice, Petr is active as author of a number of publications in the area of civil law. Petr also acted as a member of several expert groups (e.g. Chairman’s Appeal Committee of the Office for the Protection of Competition), interdepartmental Ministries commissions or legal committees formed for preparation of new legislation and as adviser to the Chairman of Association of Regions of The Czech Republic. From 2009 to 2014, Petr Šťovíček was Deputy Director and then Director of Land Fund of the Czech Republic and subsequently the Principal Director of the State Land Fund.

Petr is fluent in Czech, English and German.
